A Tuesday Night Ride (TNR) is a free, guided mountain bike ride for women only! With your guide(s) you’ll explore the trails in and around Park City. The rides run from 6:00 (promptly) to roughly 8:00 pm from Memorial Day to Labor Day. All riders must sign an annual waiver. Download it here. We meet at White Pine Touring (WPT) and break up into four groups: - Level 1 – A level 1 ride is for riders who know how to ride a bike, but have not ridden in a while or ride infrequently. The instructor will stop regularly to answer questions and give pointers and tips. There will be hills and some technical spots on the trail, but to a lesser degree than other trails. The pace is typically moderate.
- Level 1 Plus – Level 1+ is for riders who feel physically ready to step up their riding a notch, both in terms of pace and technicality, but still desire instruction. The guide will stop for instruction and repeated attempts at difficult spots in the trail. The pace will be faster and the technical factor higher than in Level 1.
- Level 2 Technical - Level 2 Technical is for riders who wish to enhance their technical skill level. Level 2T will focus on one skill - such as switchbacks, dropoffs, track stops, etc. - each Tuesday night. A physical workout will be secondary to the learning of that specific skill. Instruction and repetition on specific trail spots will be a major focus.
- Level 2 Endurance – Level 2b is for riders who want a nice, fast paced cruiser with minimal stops and instruction. 2b is for riders who ride at least 1 other time a week on their own and are physically able to ride without many stops.
- Level 3 – Level 3 riders ride at a race pace and go farther and faster than any of the other levels. Technical and grunt factor are very high and there is no stop for instruction.
What to know before you go: - If you are unsure which level to go with, we suggest you err on the side of a lower level. After riding if you feel you are more qualified for a higher level, you can advance the next week.
- If you are unsure of even joining Level 1, you have the option to pay for a “Biking 101” class through WPT. This is in-depth instruction on basic biking techniques which may or may not move to the trail, depending on the rider.
- For inclement weather, White Pine Touring will determine if the ride is canceled. Call (435) 649-8710 to check the status.
- If you need to rent a mountain bike, arrive early and rent from White Pine Touring for a special rate of $15.
- If you need bike maintenance or tuning, we suggest you make arrangements in advance of the ride, or arrive early enough so the WPT mechanics do not get bogged down at 5:45 pm.
What to bring (suggested essentials): - Water
- A jacket / warm clothing
- A snack such as granola bar or energy bar
- Cell phone – there is service on most all of the Park City trails.
